A carbon rotary feeder, also known as a star-shaped feeder or air lock, typically features a rotor with several blades rotating within a circular housing. Material, which falls from the upper hopper by its own weight, fills the spaces between the blades and is discharged downward as the blades rotate. A pressure-equalizing air intake is located on the side of the feeder body, allowing the decompressed air generated by the impeller's rotation to escape through this outlet, minimizing air-burst and facilitating the smooth descent of the material. A rotary feeder is a key component of pressure- and suction-type pneumatic conveying systems. It provides uniform and continuous material feeding into the conveying pipe, while also functioning as a discharger in the system's separation and collection sections.
